GETTING READY FOR RESURFACING

Resurfacing is a pretty easy process that can be completed in just a few hours. Here’s a checklist to help you prepare your home for service before your technician arrives:

  1. Repair any leaking faucets. The slightest drip can prevent the new coating from setting smoothly and evenly.
  2. Make sure electricity and water service are available. Your technician will need these to complete the job.
  3. Set your home temperature at or above 65 degrees. Warmer temperatures help the coatings dry more efficiently.
  4. Complete all tile and plumbing work prior to resurfacing. If you’re doing a more intensive remodel, make sure the other projects are already complete to avoid any scratches or other damage to your  resurfaced fixtures, especially during the 24 hour cure time.
  5. Make sure your bathroom or kitchen is clean and dust-free. Dirt or dust particles can get trapped underneath the coatings, interfering with the technician’s ability to spray on a smooth finish.
  6. Remove all personal items from the resurfacing area. To ensure your personal belongings are protected from any overspray, be sure to take down the shower curtain and remove all shampoo bottles, towel, bathmats, etc. from your bathroom, and clear your kitchen of any containers, appliances, etc. on or around the countertop area.  Items stored in cabinets can stay there.
  7. Secure all pets in a spare room. Please make sure all pets are safely moved into a room with the door closed prior to the technician’s arrival.
  8. Be Advised: there is a chemical smell associated with resurfacing; however, it is only an odor, not fumes or anything harmful.  Our technicians use a ventilation system to extract as much of the smell as possible.  Any lingering odor should dissipate within a day.
  9. Remember: your surface needs 24 hours to cure. Your newly refinished surface will be ready for use 24 hours after the process is complete.  If you’re resurfacing your bathtub or surrounding tile, be sure to take a shower in the morning before your technician arrives.  Your tub/shower will be ready the next morning, so you won’t miss a beat!

Following these guidelines will help make your resurfacing process quick and smooth. Always feel free to ask your technician if you have any questions, or check out our FAQs for some additional insights.
